Deleted Scenes: Fanboy

Wolf Jansing was determined to dance with every single member of the UV Band Fam if it killed him. He was a mover, he loved to dance and he was going to make his friends have fun with him, dammit!
When Pluto approached the rest of the band about needing a date for the first phase of the party, Wolf had wanted nothing more than to go. Not only did he want to meet the tributes in a closer setting, he wanted to see the symphony play and for once watch someone play music. Wolf loved to play music, but he also loved to listen to music. Plus, he loved glitz and glamor and getting dressed up in tuxedos (and he hoped that maybe there'd be a cute single there to talk up too, that was always a plus). He didn't let it show, though, after all he figured that Thack, the only Capitolite in the group, would want to go more than anything. Well, it turned out he didn't want to, as he was exponentially more excited for pride, the only reason Thor would want to was to see what Ambrose was wearing, and Phil just outright refused because he's not a dancer. Scorpio said he would if nobody else would, but he could see that Wolf really wanted to go, so eventually there was only one option left. That was just fine by Pluto, though, who was very close to Wolf. Not that Pluto wasn't close with the others, it was really just that nobody understood them better than Wolf, who knew what it was to be dysphoric and knew what it was like to be hated because of his gender. They had a lot of shared experiences, and Wolf always took stellar care of Pluto, so naturally they were extremely close. Pluto definitely would have brought Skor as a date, but the Capitol forbade them from bringing relatives to the tributes, so that idea was shot down pretty quickly. Wolf was more than honored, and more than excited to escort Pluto to the party, and thoroughly enjoyed seeing the symphony play. When they introduced the escorts and District Twelve came up, Wolf leaned over to the still-tense Pluto and whispered, "I bet Thor drools when he sees them."
"No way," Pluto said, relaxing and giving Wolf a small smile. "I bet we'll have to snap him out of a daydream."
"Deal."
Wolf enjoyed dinner and chatting with some of the other Victors and their dates that weren't mentors. He had never formally met Odin Yggdraval before, nor had he met Odin's girlfriend Prima, who was also Nona's sister. He loved to see the Wallace twins, Emmet, and especially Ben in action. He even convinced the District Two Victor to dance with him, after dinner was over. He had a good share of people coming to talk to him, even when Pluto left to find Vesperus. He even got Helen to polka with him! As soon as the group started playing a lively waltz, Wolf knew who he wanted to dance with.
"Ani!"
"Huh? Oh, hey Wolf! Enjoying the party?"
"It's... Amazing. How about a dance?"
"Me?"
Wolf laughed. "Of course. That is, if Helen will surrender you over for a dance."
Anakyn rolled his eyes at that, but Wolf laughed as they took the floor. Wolf could feel eyes on them, but he was pretty used to it.
"By the way Wolf, one of my tributes, Syca, is a huge Voyager," Anakyn said, as the two of them turned.
"Oh really?" Wolf grinned. "Are he part of the Pack?"
Anakyn laughed. "I can't believe that stuck."
"I can't believe that any of this is happening and I'm not rotting back in District Six."
"Yeah. He's definitely part of the pack."
"Sounds like a cool guy."
"In fact, I bet he'd love to meet you."
"Not as much as I'd love to meet him!" Wolf said excitedly. His number one favorite thing about being in the band was playing music with his dudes, number two was probably being a role model for trans kids all over the nation, but number three was definitely meeting fans.
"I'll have to take him to you then!"
"After this song, though. Is Helen as good a dancer as me?" Wolf teased.
"Helen's a great dancer, thank you very much," Anakyn said, teasingly offended on her behalf.
"I don't doubt it," Wolf chirped. The song ended, but Wolf didn't mind, he was too excited now. Anakyn took his friend by the arm and led him across the room.
"Hey, Syca!" he called.
A boy with reddish hair looked up, his gray eyes widening when he saw Wolf there.
"Syca, this is Wolf! Wolf, my tribute Syca."
"Hey man! Nice to meet you!" Wolf said, trying to tone down his excitement. The other band members told him that fans got intimidated when he was practically bouncing off the walls to meet them.
"H...Hi there," Syca said, still looking shocked.
"I'm super hyped to meet you, Dude! How's Ani been treating you?"
"Oh, he's great!" Syca said happily.
"Thanks Syca," the escort said, before he was tugged away by the excited Helen, insisting that he tango with her.
"I-I really like your band," Syca said awkwardly, and Wolf could tell he was shy.
"Aw, thanks Dude!" Wolf said, patting his shoulder but restraining himself from hitting it too hard for fear of scaring him.
"My sister and I always listened to your music together. She really likes you guys too."
Wolf grinned. "Yeah? Are you part of the Pack?"
Syca giggled a little bit. "Yeah. You're definitely the coolest one."
Wolf laughed loudly at that. "I like you, kid!"
Syca grinned. "Thanks!"
"What's your sister's name?"
"Camellia."
"Oh, that's a pretty name! What's she like?" Wolf hoped that talking about his sister would make the kid a little comfortable. After all, Wolf was a person just like him, there was no need to be nervous around him!
"Great. She's my best friend, we trust each other so much. She's smart and funny and really kind." He was relaxing, so Wolf kept running with it.
"Really? Oh, she sounds wonderful!"
"She's also a part of the Pack," Syca said, grinning up at him.
Wolf grinned. "Ah, now that's what I like to hear! You catch on quick."
Syca was smiling now, bouncing on his feet. "I wish I could be super cool like you," he said.
"You want some advice?"
Syca's gray eyes lit up. "Really!?"
Wolf smiled. "Yeah, totally dude! I mean, I can't promise that I know anything about being cool, but I can try."
Syca laughed. "No, you're definitely super cool. The question is just going to be if I can actually do what you tell me."
"It's all a matter of confidence, Dude!" Wolf said. "Once I stopped being insecure about myself, I just kind of let go."
"Oh... Yeah, I'm not very confident..."
"That's alright! The first step to being more confident is to fake confidence!"
"Oh..."
"Then someday you'll believe it!"
"How do I do that?" Syca asked.
"You stand up tall, first off. You're important! You're amazing! You're Syca!"
"But that's just it... I'm just Syca."
"Oh, but Syca is amazing!" Wolf says. "Even if you don't see it, everyone else does!"
"Not Persei," the fifteen-year-old sighs quietly.
"Well then Persei is really dumb!" Wolf said.
"No, she's really smart..."
"Nope. If she doesn't see that Syca is wonderful than she's automatically dumb. Sorry, I don't make the rules."
Syca laughed, looking awkward, but there was a new look in his eyes. "Thanks..." he said awkwardly.
"Just think, you're famous now, just like we are! There's a room full of people that want you to look their way!"
"You think so? I'm... Not popular like the Careers."
"Oh, I'm sure. You're perfectly Syca, after all."
Syca still looked a bit shocked that this was happening. "Thanks..." he said awkwardly.
"So, is there someone here that you wanted to dance with?"
Syca looked around the room, twiddling his fingers awkwardly.
"Um, yeah... Daria." He gestured to the girl, her vibrant red hair complimenting her pretty, light pink dress.
"She's pretty," Wolf said.
"She's a Thunderbolt," Syca said, the name that had been given to Thor's fans, considering Thor is a God of thunder.
"Then she's disgusting and not worth your time," Wolf teased, and Syca laughed, releasing his nerves slightly.
"Alright, you should totally go for it, Dude."
"What if she says no?"
"She definitely won't."
"I dunno..."
"Even if she does, no biggie. There are still plenty of people that would love to dance with you! If she says no it's her loss, you've still got options."
"Really?"
"Oh, definitely."
Syca nodded a bit, taking a deep breath. He still looked nervous, so Wolf gave him a pat on the back.
"You're Syca, right? And you're in the Pack, which makes you inherently cooler than her anyways."
Syca laughed."I'm not that cool."
"That's okay. Just be confident and be you."
"Right. Confident and me." He was still pretty tense and nervous.
"Just fake it till you make it, got it?"
"Yeah, right," Syca said. "She's talking to Jacques now, though..."
"Nope, no making excuses! Put it off much longer and you'll never get that dance!"
"But..."
"No excuses!" Wolf gave him a gentle nudge forward. "Don't worry, I've got your back."
Syca couldn't help smiling to himself at that. Camellia would be crazy jealous if she knew. He still couldn't totally believe that Wolf Jansing was giving him advice on how to be cool. He stood up tall, like Wolf said to, and walked over, trying to keep his pace slow and cool, the pace of a confident person. He tried to pretend he was totally cool, like Wolf, and that there really were a million other people that would dance with him if Daria said no.
"Hm," Jacques was saying as Syca approached.
Be confident and be you.
He tried to make sure his voice was bold and assertive.
"Hi Daria, I would like to ask you to please share a dance with me," he said. That wasn't so bad.
Daria gave him a grin. "I would love to Syca!" she said cheerfully. She took his hand and started to head to the dance floor. Syca was still smiling on the way, glad that he succeeded and didn't let Wolf down.
He glanced behind his shoulder on the way to the dance floor and Wolf gave him two thumbs up. Daria took one of his hands and put the other on his shoulder, smiling up at him. He smiled back as he put his other hand on her waist.
"It makes sense that we'd share a dance, ally," she said, grinning.
"Oh, yeah..." he said, letting her take the lead as she was a much better dancer than he.
"I've been waiting for you to ask me."
He grinned at that, feeling a surge of confidence course through him. "Oh. Cool."
The music took the two friends away.
