The Mentors~

********Trigger Warning for Drug mention in D6 and blood in D8********

DISTRICT 1

Cartier Candelaria, Victor of the 97th Games. Won at 18. Currently 46.
-Mentoring: Chance-

Appearance: Cartier’s dirty blond hair is graying, though still short and neat. He’s starting to show his age, but is still built tall and strong, and fairly healthy after all he’s been through. By now, nobody would ever know he’s trans.

Personality: Even as an older man, Cartier is chill and laidback, and doesn’t get stressed out easily.  He tries to be nice to everyone around him but if someone is rude to him then he will not take it. His bark and his bite are equally terrible, but now that he’s a mentor he barks more than he bites (though he will not hesitate to bite). He is fierce when provoked and if you make him angry he has no mercy.  He stands up for his friends and siblings and is very honest and loyal. However, he does like to have fun and has a bit of a potty mouth as well as being incredibly sarcastic and sometimes lacks tact. He wants to see his tributes succeed, but is honest with them as to whether or not they have what it’s like to handle the consequences, which earns him a pretty bad rep as a mentor.

Strategy for mentoring: Build up the weak. He’s aiming for the post-Games consequences, and wants tributes that can take the pain of being a Victor with grace and stride. He gives advice honestly and tailors his mentoring style to tributes’ needs.

Opinion on being a Victor/ the Capitol: Cartier’s done well with the Victor’s life, and wasn’t sold because of his transition. He’s glad he got the chance to win and have a proper transition, and couldn’t be happier about that. However, he deals with a lot of Games guilt.

Opinion of escort: Probably that they’re annoying as hell.

How would they deal with the twist?: Very cautiously. He doesn’t really believe it at first, but when he starts to see it happen he gets wary.

Philosophy/Winning Advice: “Get ready, kid. The Games life doesn’t end until you’re surrendering into Death’s cold embrace.”

Blessing Natale, Victor of the 107th Games. Won at 18. Currently 36.
-Mentoring: Wicke-

Appearance: Tall and strong with blonde hair and brown eyes.

Personality: Blessing is very strict. She used to be a wild party girl, but the Games hardened her a bit, so now she’s become the strict adult she used to hate when she was a young teen. She wants to train strong Careers and is very focused when she’s mentoring. She’s not an extremely social person, and is sometimes very awkward, not knowing what to do with her tributes, so she likes a very business-like relationship with her tributes. She’s good at what she does, too.

Strategy for mentoring: Keep it very business-like. She can’t get too attached to her tributes, after all, and she’s very good at remaining curt. She is very knowledgeable and just intimidating enough that any smart tribute would think twice about disrespecting her. She’s very respectful, though, and does want her tributes to succeed, so they usually like her as a mentor. Though she’s somewhat scary. Only somewhat.

Opinion on being a Victor/ the Capitol: She likes being a Victor, though she deals with some Games guilt, she takes it all in stride. She likes the Capitol more now that they’ve started to leave her alone.

Opinion of escort: Tries to get along with them, but can’t tolerate ditzes and/or fangirls.

How would they deal with the twist?: Like Cartier, she doesn’t entirely believe it to be possible and would be very thrown off when it actually happened. She’d make the mistake of telling the tribute that it isn’t really love, which would get some bad rep. Or possibly helping Wicke out with her sexuality.

Philosophy/Winning Advice: “You trained so long for this. This is your moment. What are you waiting for?”

DISTRICT 2

Vesperus Floridius, Victor of the 113th Games. Won at 18. Currently 30.
-Mentoring: Acacia-

Appearance: Vesp is a tall, strong-built man with dirty-blond hair and brown eyes. He usually has some stubble on his face, and is usually seen shaking his head in disdain at the shenanigans of the others.

Personality: Vesperus is a Dad. He’s literally everyone’s Dad and Grandpa and he’s only 30. He’s usually done with everyone else’s shit and just wants to go home tbh. Vesp does care, but doesn’t like to show it. He’s the type that is super hard on his tributes and fellow mentors because he cares and wants to push them, though he often doesn’t say that so they’re left wondering what he really thinks of them. Vesp is a hard worker that pretends he doesn’t care, but he really does. He doesn’t treat his volunteers like children, sometimes so much so that you can tell he’s doing it out of petty anger at a tribute that called him out on it who knows how many years ago. He knows how to deal with your typical 2 volunteer because that’s what he was. He believes in fate and luck very much, because he’s watched it take so many of his tributes. He also has an obsession with time, saying tha the has to live 24 lives every second. Has taken up work as a nurse in the Capitol and likes to help people.

Strategy for mentoring: Push them hard. Treat them like adults, sometimes overly so. Protect them from scorn. Tell them what to do to win sponsors. Works really hard to get them sponsors and supports them.

Opinion on being a Victor/ the Capitol: Likes the Victor’s life and enjoys the Capitol because he has lots of fans there.

Opinion of escort: He can get along pretty well with the escort, especially if they’re really well-mannered.

How would they deal with the twist?: Really upset that tributes with so much potential are reduced to this. However, he’s not mad. He tries to talk the tribute through their feelings.

Philosophy/Winning Advice: “I can’t tell you how to win. All I can tell you is to watch out for fate, and avoid karma at all costs.”

Nona Amatore, Victor of the 119th Games. Won at 18. Currently 24.
-Mentoring: Dania-

Appearance: Nona is tall and built huge with olive skin, dark brown hair often kept back in a ponytail, and piercing dark brown eyes. Seriously, she is v intimidating and v gorgeous at the same time. She will kick your ass but you will love every second of it. She wears colored lipstick a lot, usually dark but sometimes a bright red if she’s feeling it. Also probably the bustiest mentor there.

Personality: Nona is savage af. She will kick your ass out of this universe. Nona refuses to be messed with, and is still just as much of a fighter as she was for her Games. She works in the Training Center, and hasn’t stopped training. She enjoys it and is good at it, and frankly, she’s a Victor, she can do whatever she wants. Nona keeps herself on a very strict diet and would probably make her tribute follow it before Vesperus is like “no.” She has a pretty good working relationship with Blessing, and Cartier probably sees some of himself in her and gets all father-y with her, which frustrates Nona. She’s also pretty close with Vesp, and the other 2 Victors.

Strategy for mentoring: She really only has one way to mentor: totally honestly. She can only do what she can do. She wants to get a Victor, but she plays by her own rules and isn’t very good at adapting. She’s the only Victor that’s still really strict on the whole no dessert rule.

Opinion on being a Victor/ the Capitol: She loves her life and wouldn’t change a thing about it. She’s not afraid to sleep around, and loves the attention and praise it earns her. She has plenty of admirers and wants to inspire little girls to be like her.

Opinion of escort: Probably hella annoyed with them tbh. Either that or they’re savage best friends that destroy people together.

How would they deal with the twist?: Would definitely chastise the tribute and to make them snap out of it, effectively fracturing their relationship.

Philosophy/Winning Advice: “This is your only chance!! This is your moment!! What the hell are you waiting for, why the hell are you throwing this away!?”

DISTRICT 3

Tav Kohl, Victor of the 102nd Games. Won at 16. Currently 39.
-Mentoring: Beq-

Appearance:  Tav has olive skin, straight, shaggy dark hair, and olive green eyes.

Personality: He is very intelligent, and extremely kind. Tav has a fatherly part of him, and refuses to live his life in fear of the Capitol, which is why he has so many kids. Tav is really rambunctious and also really horny, which is also why he has so many kids. He’s fit to be a father and loves taking care of his kids. He has eight kids, the oldest at 14 and the youngest just a 1-year-old baby. Tav is very bright and also very good at causing trouble, which he will do if you leave him to his own devices. He’s extremely curious, and loves the second half of the saying “curiosity killed the cat.” He loves to learn and know new things, and also loves nature. However, he’s tired of putting his life on the line after the Games and isn’t a huge risk taker. He just wants his wife Marinka and all eight of their kids to be well taken care of and is proud of them no matter what.

Strategy for mentoring: Takes a very honest approach to mentoring and does what his tribute wants him to. If they don’t want to listen, he won’t waste his breath. If they cling to him, he’ll try to ease them off of him by calming their nerves. He really tries for his tributes.

Opinion on being a Victor/ the Capitol: Tav isn’t afraid of the Capitol, though the Games did scar him he refuses to live his life as a Victor in fear. He takes his kids to the Capitol to kill some of his quota time, and has learned that they’re not all horrible soulless people.

Opinion of escort: Would really give them a chance and try to build a friendship with them, even letting them hold baby Kester if they wanted. However, if they’re stuck-up and rude, Tav refuses to let his tribute be bullied.

How would they deal with the twist?: Tav thinks the twist is absolutely sick and doesn’t really believe in it. However, if his tribute falls for someone, he may start to panic and try to talk them through it, and try to subconsciously give them ways to handle heartbreak.

Philosophy/Winning Advice: “Keep a cool head and use what you have. I’ll be rooting for you back home and will send as much as I can. You just keep fighting.”

Ellie Schultz, Victor of the 95th Games. Won at 15. Currently 45.
-Mentoring: Kaelys-

Appearance: Ellie has olive skin and short, graying, dark hair. Looks older than she is due to stress, and even though she’s a Victor she’s still very skinny and frail.

Personality: She is very kind and compassionate, and wants to make a good change. She was scarred by her Games and tried to go to University but failed, so she kind of shut down. She eventually met and married a man she loved, and together they have three kids. She is horrified of them being reaped, or else they would have a lot more. Ellie is still haunted by her Games but is a very kind mentor, always wanting the best for her tributes. She is a bit shy and very withdrawn right after her Games. Ellie is smart but very afraid as the Games have scarred her. She is soft-spoken and shy, and hates the Capitol quota, which luckily has decreased as she’s become less and less popular. She has a very close relationship with Tav, who she mentored to Victory, and they still talk a lot even when the Games aren’t happening. She and Tav both want to help out both of 3’s tributes and often hope they’ll want to be mentored together, though they respect those that want to be separate (though they always come to each other for advice in the nights and during the Games). Overall, a sweet, motherly woman who is very shy and very afraid.

Strategy for mentoring: Likes to be close to Tav when they mentor, but if her tribute requests to be mentored alone she respects it. She doesn’t like to talk very much so mostly just stays quiet unless her tribute asks her very specific questions. Tries to answer everything honestly but sometimes a question might spark a memory and she can’t force herself to speak.

Opinion on being a Victor/ the Capitol: She hates the Games and is scarred for life. She suffers from nightmares and overall just horrible memories tied to the Games. She tries to be tolerant of Capitolites, though, but is mostly afraid of them.

Opinion of escort: Doesn’t like to be alone wtih them and overall just isn’t a big fan. She usually sticks to Tav or other D3 citizens as opposed to him, though.

How would they deal with the twist?: Relieved that her daughter is safe, though sorry for her poor tribute. Ellie would do whatever her tribute requested her to, and would try her best to stay focused on getting a 3 tribute home, though she struggles with that sometimes. She’s expecting the twist, so she would try to suggest that her tribute goes alone and makes no allies, though she respects their wishes.

Philosophy/Winning Advice: “Few who are strong enough to survive have the strength to carry on. Channel your home, the blood that runs through your veins. Focus on the present, live day to day, and the last cannon booming will be a pleasant surprise.”

DISTRICT 4

Port Stradlater, Victor of the 114th Games. Won at 16. Currently 27.
-Mentoring: Nerio-

Appearance: Port is a hulking tall guy with a good deal of muscle. He has tan skin and dark hair, with brown eyes that seem cold but can actually have a lot of warmth in them.

Personality: Port has a no-nonsense attitude, and is extremely intimidating because he’s a big guy with a resting bitch face. Port’s inspiration to volunteer came from the praise he got from trainers and pressure from all angles. He tries not to intimidate people, but it’s near impossible. He was often very lonely in school because a lot of people avoided him just because he’s so intimidating. One time, someone called him a fag, and Port beat him up so bad that nobody dared cross him again. Port didn’t care that people stopped talking to him, he stood by his actions. He was chosen to volunteer, to nobody’s surprise, and took the position honorably. His actions in the Games, including him being covered in blood as he climbed the ladder to Victory, didn’t really help with the whole “Port’s not that scary” thing. He’s not some big teddy bear, he’s just an average man who gets feared a lot. However, he’s really no good at love. Like, at all. He just has trouble believing that people will love him, so he’s just quite awkward and a big oaf. In fact, he’s in a pretty weird position right now because he just kissed his mentoring partner Michael, and Michael stopped talking to him. All interactions between them have just been awkward af, and have just started pretending that nothing happened at all.

Strategy for mentoring: Would just hope that his tribute didn’t want to be mentored with Michael’s really. He is a very straightforward mentor that doesn’t like to play games and doesn’t hesitate to knock the arrogant Career attitude right out of his tributes. Wants them to take this seriously, though he could be friendly with his tribute if they were friendly to him first.

Opinion on being a Victor/ the Capitol: Pretty neutral. It was everything he thought, but by now he just became indifferent. He did one year of his quota in prostitution, and then realized how awful it was and instead decided to use his boating license to captain cruises instead.

Opinion of escort: Pretty neutral, though he doesn’t deal with their shit and if they try to mediate him and Michael he will just leave. He really just doesn’t give a damn about them.

How would they deal with the twist?: He’s fucking awful at love, so he would just be so confused. He would awkwardly hand his tribute Michael’s pamphlet but other than that would just avoid the subject in typical Port Stradlater Fashion™.

Philosophy/Winning Advice: “Always have your guard up. Remember that nothing is too much, you can’t go too far, this is your life or theirs.”

Michael Spinnaker, Victor of the 121st Games. Won at 17. Currently 21.
-Mentoring: Luna-

Appearance: Michael is of Latin descent with tan skin, curly dark brown hair, and bright brown eyes that he got turned green in the Capitol because y’know what, he can. He is quite attractive, and has a couple tattoos on his shoulders that poke out of shirts on his neck and wants to get a full back piece someday. Michael is in a wheelchair because of an explosion that happened in the finale of his Games. He was just the lucky bastard that lived longer.

Personality: Michael is very changed. Before the Games he smoked constantly, trained, and had a sex addiction that was somewhat out of control. After losing all feeling and movement below the waist, he had to take a step back. He still wishes that he could have sex, like, really have sex, and is willing to be a test subject for anything that might lead to that. However, he cleaned up his act after the Games. He’s been dry for almost 4 years, though smoking is proving harder to give up. The last time he went back to it was on his anniversary with his boyfriend, who was abusive. Michael is struggling to pitch the smoking, but he isn’t ready to give up so fast. He’s devoted his life to educating the world about gender and sexuality, and about what makes an abusive relationship. He wants to go into counselling and uses his free time making pamphlets for the hell of it.

Strategy for mentoring: Be attentive, be there for his tribute. Tell them whatever he can about what he knows, and let them make their own decisions. Michael is very kind and supportive, and has a habit of becoming close with his tributes.

Opinion on being a Victor/ the Capitol: Thankful that he was able to start turning his life around, however he does have a lot of survivor’s guilt and hates the fact that he’s in a chair.

Opinion of escort: He’s probably chill with them if they’re nice, but if they’re mean he hates them.

How would they deal with the twist?: The same way he deals with everything else: pamphlets.

Philosophy/Winning Advice: “Never count yourself out. Never.”

DISTRICT 5

Timothy Delacroix, Victor of the 98th Games. Won at 17. Currently 44.
-Mentoring: Joule-

Appearance: Tim is a man with olive skin, short brown hair, and sweet brown eyes. His smile can brighten up a room.

Personality: Tim is very kind and just has a big heart. He really looks out for Kelly and is really extremely kind. Sometimes stress and survivor’s guilt gets to him, but he always bounces back. Tim is quite intelligent, but didn’t want to go to University because he didn’t want to leave his sweetheart Trina behind. He is extremely loyal and even though he likes to pretend his mind is stronger than his heart, he’s actually a big teddy bear. He really likes to tie blankets, it’s a calming habit, and sometimes he delivers food and/or to Kelly. Tim and Trina have been together since she confessed her feelings after he was reaped, and have made it through thick and thin. They’re really best friends-turned lovers, and always have each other’s backs. She knows best what to do to calm him down, and when they’re apart he misses her sorely. They have talked about adopting kids for a while, but Tim finally confessed that he just couldn’t. He is extremely fit to be a father, but sometimes he just shuts down with the nightmares and memories of his Games, which she understands completely. Instead, they’ve started a scholarship at Tim’s little school to send deserving young people who survived their 18 reaping to University in Three. The scholarship is given to one student per class (granted they receive a certain score or higher on their entrance exam). Those who score high enough on the exam are invited to Tim and Trina’s house one by one for interviews to see who is most worthy before the scholarship is awarded. In this way, it’s as if they’ve “adopted” a kid, and still keep in contact with almost all of the students they’ve paid through college. Overall, just a very studious and kind man with a big heart that loves dearly and gives wonderful, soft hugs. Pansexual with a preference to girls.

Strategy for mentoring: Treating the tribute like his own. He’s a very good mentor that really really tries for his tribute, and usually gets attached to them in the process of mentoring. He would root for them, celebrate with them, and stay up with them if they wanted him to. He would probably teach them how to tie blankets and if they wanted they could make a blanket together. Damn, that’d be cute.

Opinion on being a Victor/ the Capitol: Likes the opportunity and wealth, and tries to be tolerant of Capitolites, but has so much survivor’s guilt that ruins him that it’s hard. Trina absolutely hates them with a burning passion, but Tim tries to give them lots of chances. His heart is always broken by his tributes’ deaths, though, and it does take a toll on him.

Opinion of escort: Tries to be kind to them, though sometimes if they say typical Capitolite stuff he might get uncomfortable. Would hesitate to let them make blankets but if they were nice he would. Maybe.

How would they deal with the twist?: This twist would destroy him. He knows what it’s like to have an aching heart in the Arena because he did, but he was able to use Trina as incentive to get home, whereas his tribute won’t have the same luxury. He is just so upset for them and doesn’t knpw what he can do to help them because there’s nothing he can do.

Philosophy/Winning Advice: “Just do your best. No matter what happens, make them proud. That’s all you can hope for.”

Kelly Fischer, Victor of the 94th Games. Won at 14. Currently 45.
-Mentoring: Dyna-

Appearance: Kelly is small and petite with dirty blonde hair and brown eyes.

Personality: Kelly is very quiet and before her Games, she was very kind and bubbly, but the Games totally destroyed her. Kelly hid throughout her Games, and since winning all she’s really wanted to do was hide. She feels safer when she’s hiding. After her Games, she is extremely paranoid and doesn’t like to go anywhere without her belt of knives. She also started to depend on drugs, and soon the only reason she left her house was to get drugs. Kelly is very shy and quiet, though intelligent, so she doesn’t really have a lot of friends. She tried to go to university but eventually dropped out because of her PTSD making school a struggle. Now she just hides out at home, sneaking around and hiding where she feels safe, and threatening visitors with a steak knife from her kitchen. She hates going to the Capitol because she hates attention, and treats life like a big game of hide and seek. She won her Games at a young age just because of her ability to hide, and because of that relies on hiding to feel safe. She was the hide and seek champ of her friends, and camouflage was her best skill because she is also very artsy and has a good eye for color.

Strategy for mentoring: Would probably have to be probed by her tribute to actually give any kind of advice, and spends most of her time in the Capitol totally useless and high. Tim would try to help out with her tribute but make sure that if his tribute said they wanted to be mentored separately, not to give Kelly’s tribute any of the little tips he has about the Games.

Opinion on being a Victor/ the Capitol: Hates being a Victor, hates the Capitol. Copes with drugs and hates to be in the view of the public.

Opinion of escort: Would hate them no matter how nice or rude they were, and would never feel safe around them even if they were kind. She’d probably threaten them with a knife if they all ate dinner together.

How would they deal with the twist?: Kelly’s a pretty useless mentor, so she wouldn’t really handle it at all. She doesn’t give much advice to start with and has never really been in love herself so how should she know?

Philosophy/Winning Advice: “They never find you, they never kill you.”

DISTRICT 6

Gian Mariani, Victor of the 123rd Games. Won at 16. Currently 18.
-Mentoring: Riggs-

Appearance:  Gian is an attractive young man with tan skin, curly brown hair, and brown eyes. He often has dark bags under his eyes because he’s often tired from studying. He used some of his Capitol quota time working out so he had a better physique and then took the modeling route.

Personality: Gian is a tired university student that depends on coffee to survive. Gian is very studious, and extremely intelligent. He is ambitious and wants to do something with his Victory. He’s studying engineering in school because he wants to be able to make things and likes the idea of inventing. He’s got a lot of drive and is a major overachiever. He strives for all A’s because he feels like he has to stay up to par with the rest of the kids in University because they earned their way in and he can just pay for it. But he feels it isn’t fair that he can get there when he didn’t deserve it just because he was rich. So he put a lot of pressure on himself to get good grades, even if he isn’t as smart as a lot of the others. As a person and a mentor, Gian is slightly aloof and tries not to get attached to his tributes, which bites him in the ass. This boy needs coffee, and lives on it, and he loves it like it was his own child. He could always use some coffee. Gian is somewhat stubborn on his way to his goals, but feels very strongly protective of his friends and family, especially Prentice. He doesn’t like to show that he has layers and feels things because he feels like he should be a man all the time because toxic masculinity. He is afraid to make close relationships with people because he’s a Victor, and though Blossius is playing nice, he doesn’t trust the Capitol not to fuck up his friendships and family relationships.

Strategy for mentoring: Stays as detached as possible from his tributes and tries to never get close to them. Gian gives advice, trying to get District 6 another Victor that isn’t Anatoly, but doesn’t want to make personal relations because he’s sick of heartbreak.

Opinion on being a Victor/ the Capitol: Hates being a Victor and doesn’t trust the Capitol, but can pretend pretty well because he’s a great actor and a spectacular liar.

Opinion of escort: Tries not to associate with them, but is very polite and charming to them for fear that if he’s rude to them something will happen to his friends or family.

How would they deal with the twist? Not well. Not well at all.

Philosophy/Winning Advice: “Come home. Just… Come home.”

Anatoly Carlyle, Victor of the 111th Games. Won at 14. Currently 28.
-Mentoring: Desiree-

Appearance: Anatoly has pale skin and wiry copper hair she often keeps back in a ponytail. She has dark brown eyes that hold fragments of her soul in them.

Personality: After winning her Games at the young age of 14, Anatoly mentored for two years totally clean, before she lost both sets of tributes and turned to drugs. She just felt awkward mentoring tributes that were older than she was to their deaths. She is hollow and sunken-in, not very energetic and usually exhausted from lack of sleep due to nightmares. She relies on drugs, like many Victors from 6, and relies on her older sister Evelyn to make sure that she doesn’t overdose and die in her sleep. Anatoly is very scarred by her Games and suffers from insomnia due to the fear of nightmares in the Castle. However, though she is haunted by her Games, deep within her, the motivated, loyal, family-loving Anatoly is still present. She’s just constantly in fear of what will happen to her family. Anatoly knows that the drugs are bad for her but she keeps on using them anyways, and can’t stop. She is a bit aloof and struggles to truly care about anything anymore.

Strategy for mentoring: Anatoly is a totally useless mentor. Unlike Kelly, she doesn’t even try to talk to her tribute as she’s already given up on them totally. So, she just shuts herself away for the entirety of the train ride, whoops.

Opinion on being a Victor/ the Capitol: Hates everything about it, probably would have committed suicide if it wasn’t for Evelyn still being there, taking care of her.

Opinion of escort: Withdrawn. They probably nag her and she hates that and refuses to associate with them.

How would they deal with the twist?: Doesn’t. Doesn’t associate with mentoring, which means she can’t really deal with the twist.

Philosophy/Winning Advice: “Stop bothering me. You’re dead as a doornail anyways.”

DISTRICT 7
Kendal Beck, Victor of the 84th Games. Won at 16. Currently 57.
-Mentoring: Syca-

Appearance: Brown skin, black hair, brown eyes, mole next to his right eye.

Personality: He comes across as being really shy and nervous but he can also take care of himself and doesn't put up with shit. He is more likely to defend others than himself, and always has been. He thinks things through and is unlikely to rush in without a plan. He may come across as someone that would have no clue what he's doing, but he works to plan and strategize as best as he can. He and his mentor Adler were not friends and still aren’t, though he’s very close with the person who was an escort during his Games, Cobra. He’s married to a man from District 1 named Gravity fucking Stowers, and together they have four kids, though they’re both naturally very fatherly people so they often “adopt” people that need some love, like Helen. Kendal’s Games are not talked about because they were so horrific: after one of the co-Head Gamemakers, Diesel Bundren, went crazy and showered every gimmick on the tributes at once, and the other co-Head Gamemaker, Santana Villanueva, committed suicide, the trbiutes were left in stillness with no gimmicks left and no Head Gamemakers on the eve of President Snow’s death. The new President took control quickly, and told the tributes that they had no gimmicks left, so the lives of their loved ones would be in danger if they didn’t end the Games quickly enough. Kendal won by setting up a trap, which caught his DIstrict partner, and finishing her off in the most anticlimactic finale in Games history. Now, he is haunted by the Games, though he has found some peace and stability in Gravity and his kids, and in his service dogs.

Strategy for mentoring: Be really supportive and help out his tribute with whatever they might need.

Opinion on being a Victor/ the Capitol: Is relieved that he survived and is doing okay, but still has the occasional nightmare. Keeps his opinions on the Capitol to himself.

Opinion of escort: Not as good as Cobra.

How would they deal with the twist?: Try to talk them out of love.

Philosophy/Winning Advice: It would really depend on what his tribute needs to hear, as he gets pretty good at figuring out what people need to hear.

Helen Bethel, Victor of the 120th Games. Won at 15. Currently 20.
-Mentoring: Persei-

Appearance: Tall and skinny with some muscle on her arms and legs. Helen is Caucasian, with tan skin and copper brown hair with a bit of a wave in it. She has bright green eyes and slight freckles, and is often seen with bright lipstick on.

Personality: Helen is very energetic and loves to learn. She loves animals and wants to hug every cat and play with every dog ever. She is also quite sporty, and loves to race around. She’s also quite competitive, and loves to win, which motivated her to fight in the Games and motivates her as a mentor. Helen loves to play and will play with pretty much everyone. However, she also loves to read and is a hopeless romantic. She comes across as very ditzy, almost fake, but doesn’t really understand how people can view her in that light. She’s also super competitive, always challenging others and making games out of work to have fun. Also, every time Helen sees Nona, she runs over and proposes to her. It’s just become an inside joke between them, Helen falling to her knees and begging Nona to marry her, or slay her, or both. The other Victors are immune to this weirdness. Mostly.

Strategy for mentoring: Always tells her tributes that if Nona marries her, she’ll be able to set them up with the Careers. All jokes aside, though, she really invests herself into her tributes, and takes it pretty hard if they die. She believes that there’s always something she can do, and puts a lot of value on the lives she’s working with.

Opinion on being a Victor/ the Capitol: She’s only a Victor because she has to be. She obeys them with a smile on but secretly hates everything they are and everything they stand for. She’s always been obedient, so they haven’t touched her beyond the Games horror, though.

Opinion of escort: Gets along well with them just because she's so kind and willing to give second chances.

How would they deal with the twist?: She would not believe in it and treat it as a joke, then when it really happened she’d be totally lost, maybe trying to use revenge to motivate her tribute.

Philosophy/Winning Advice: “Go in there, keep your head down, and do what has to be done for you to get back to 7.”
DISTRICT 8

Tartan Vincent, Victor of the 108th Games. Won at 16. Currently 33.
-Mentoring: Semper-

Appearance: Tartan is an average-height, skinny man, with pale skin, shoulder-length dark hair often held up in a ponytail, and brown eyes. Tartan’s hair was short before his Games, but after winning he let it grow out a bit. It’s often kept back in a low ponytail.

Personality:  Tartan was a very kind boy before his Games, and was extremely shy and reserved. He was teased a lot at school because he wasn’t very big or strong, and was babied by his parents. Ant remembers this boy, but nobody else does. After going into the Games, he went into survival mode. He shut off his sweetness completely, deeming that as weakness, and killed mercilessly. With each kill, Tartan’s bloodlust grew, and with each kill he became more and more greedy. He tortured the 15-year-old boy from District 7, and was the only of Anthony’s tributes that the mentor actively rooted against. Anthony was horrified at who he had become, and totally shut off his sponsorship, in honor of Gidget. Tartan didn’t let that stop him, though, and won the Games after a brutal fight with the girl from 1, who died a very slow, very painful death while Tartan just laughed. He hasn’t changed from the monster he became, and is still just as mean and bloodthirsty, finding different ways to satisfy his needs. He laughs at those who feel love and loves to hurt others and tear them down. Tartan wants everyone to forget the person he was before, and hates Anthony because Anthony hasn’t (and because he later found out that Ant neglected giving him some presents from sponsors). Not a great relationship there. Tartan is ruthless and wants to be happy, and finding joy from other people’s suffering is his favorite thing to do. However, he gets sensitive when the person he used to be comes up, because he does feel guilty for who he’s become when he really thinks about it. So he usually just tries not to think about it.

Strategy for mentoring: Really push his tribute to see if they have what it takes to be Victor material. Even if they’re super sweet, that’s okay, he’ll still work to bring out their dark side in all its awfulness. Ant usually tries to stop it before it gets too bad, though.

Opinion on being a Victor/ the Capitol: Thinks the Games were the best thing to ever happen to him and stands by it, loves his partners in the Capitol that let him destroy them just so he can see the looks on their faces when they realize they’re being dominated by a District citizen.

Opinion of escort: If they’re older, he’d just let them be, but if they’re his age or younger he’d probably treat them pretty inappropriately, making lots of sex comments and other things just to make them uncomfortable and laughing at them.

How would they deal with the twist?: Basically tells his tribute that if they fall in love, they’re dead to him. Explains how love is a weakness and why it needs to be avoided at all costs. Will try to beat the romantic feelings right out of a tribute if Ant isn’t there to stop him.

Philosophy/Winning Advice: “You have to kiss who you were goodbye and be who you are. Be a demon. Don’t hesitate. And, most importantly, never be sorry.”

Anthony Tidwell, Victor of the 88th Games. Won at 18. Currently 55.
-Mentoring: Ester-

Appearance: Anthony is tall with brown skin, graying black hair, and hollow blue eyes that once held more light and love than anyone in District 8 had ever seen.

Personality: Anthony is exhausted. He was the youngest of six kids (how he got the nickname Ant), and is one of only three still alive. His oldest brother Zayne died in the 73rd Hunger Games when Ant was three years old, and years later, Ant was reaped into the 88th, which he won after avenging his ally Gidget, who was being tortured by another tribute. His brother Poe, nine years older than Anthony, passed away of a heart attack in his older age, and his oldest living sibling Valerie is currently in a Capitol nursing home, suffering from Alzheimer’s. His other two siblings, Cadogan and Giselle, are pretty detached from him because of what he did in the Games, though they are glad he’s back home and didn’t die like Zayne. Anthony stopped going by Ant after he won his Games, and was a hit because he was really attractive and pretty lovable as well. As a mentor, he tries his best, though, unless he sees a tribute that became a monster in their Games like Tartan, in which case he will not hesitate to stop helping them. Now that he’s older, Anthony’s fallen out of the spotlight, and lives peacefully alone, still providing for his siblings and their families.

Strategy for mentoring: Anthony is a good mentor and helps his tributes as much as he can, unless the Games starts to change someone so much they’re unrecognizable. Ant always keeps in mind that whichever tributes he brings home are going to be living in the same neighborhood as him and will be his mentoring team, and he doesn’t want to be surrounded by people he can’t stand.

Opinion on being a Victor/ the Capitol: Still hates the Capitol for what happened to Zayne, and has never liked being a Victor. He hates Careers for killing Gidget in their Games, and is pretty wary of District 7 because it was the boy from 7 that killed Zayne. He just doesn't associate with them.

Opinion of escort: Usually just tries to avoid them if possible, gets really sensitive if he’s asked about Zayne or Poe, or even Val.

How would they deal with the twist?: Ant never had the time or the opportunity for romantic love, so he doesn’t really know how to help his tribute at all and instead just tries to talk the tributes out of love.

Philosophy/Winning Advice: “There is a right and a wrong way to play the game. Be sure you choose the right way.”

DISTRICT 9

Prentice Tholberg, Victor of the 124th Games. Won at 17. Currently 18.
-Mentoring: Jasper-

Appearance Prentice is truly adorable, with wavy, dirty blond hair, rosy cheeks, and sweet brown eyes. He’s tall and was very skinny before the Games, but after got some muscle on his limbs and though he’s not quite as muscle-y as most of the others, he’s still adorable. He has freckles on his cheeks and slight dimples when he smiles.

Personality: Prentice was very changed by his Games. Before his Games he was a kind, cheerful cinnamon roll. He was pretty naive and was planning to save himself till marriage. However, things changed when he won the Games. Suddenly, everyone was constantly worried about him, which Prentice hated. He learned quick, from the time immediately after he was reaped, how to paste on a smile and be okay. He kept up the facade all through the Games, so long that everyone bought it. He is extremely sunny and passive, and has no idea how to stand up for himself. He hates conflict, so he always tries to mediate things before they get out of hand and takes abuse just in the name of not starting conflict. Prentice was wildly popular in the Capitol, and because of that his Capitol quota is miles higher than any other Victor’s. He originally tried to fill the hours with hospital visits and community service, but it was so much work with not enough time. He could chop off time if he did the least desirable path: prostitution. He had to choose: he couldn’t go to Uni, do service in the Capitol, AND live back home in 9. He decided to fulfill his quota the quickest way he could: selling himself. This way, he could go there, fill his quota quickly, and get back to his little sister and parents for breaks. He went to the Capitol on the weekends and studied in Uni weekdays. Prentice’s addiction wasn’t really prevalent until the first time he and Gian had sex. It was a Wednesday night, Gian wanted to give him the experience of being made love to instead of just being fucked. After that, Prentice hungered for sex, more and more. When he couldn’t get it, he would watch porn, but he needed to get off, all the time, every night. His grades are starting to slip because he just can’t focus. He draws flowers on his arms with markers as an alternative to self-harm, a trick he teaches Vale. He is extremely sweet and kind, trying to better himself and be uplifting, but has a dangerous habit of writing off the concerns of others. It’s a dangerous thing, to be so stubborn. He sees himself more as an object than a person nowadays, and his neck is always littered in hickies, usually more hickey-colored than his actual skin color.

Strategy for mentoring: Tries to do everything he can for his tribute, but often asks Vale for advice and help and is just kind of clinging to him for his first year mentoring, especially with it being such a complicated Quell.

Opinion on being a Victor/ the Capitol: Hates the Games and is often haunted by them, but is starting to warm up to the Capitol just because when he goes he can get sex, which he hungers for, and they all love him there so he’s really warming up.

Opinion of escort: Tries to be close with them, and is extremely kind and charming to them.

How would they deal with the twist?: “Vale help.”

Philosophy/Winning Advice: “When I was sure I couldn’t go on, I thought about my little sister’s eyes, and the joy they’d have when I was stepping off of the train back to Nine. It’s worth it. It’s really, really worth it.”
Vale Dimitrov, Victor of the 89th Games. Won at 18. Currently 54.
-Mentoring: June-

Appearance: Vale is short for his age and stocky with pale skin, salt and pepper hair, and brown eyes. He has a very square jaw and thick eyebrows that he’s too lazy to do anything about.

Personality: Vale is changed. For years and years Nine’s failed to have a Victor, but for the first time in a long time, he didn’t have to go at it alone. Vale is rejuvenated this year, though he doesn’t hate mentoring any less. From the time he won his Games and lost his first pair of tributes, Vale took his tributes’ deaths personally, and every year felt he was responsible for his tributes all dying. He took out his sadness and misery on his arms, which he would fix with Capitol surgery before the next year came and the cycle continued. Vale hated being the only hope of these kids and overworked himself every year, barely sleeping or leaving to eat food, doing everything he could to get sponsors and give his tributes some hope. However, it never worked. He was very withdrawn, tired of receiving pity from the other Victors and never believed them when they said it wasn’t his fault because many of them had absolutely no idea what it was like to mentor alone for so damn long. Even when the others looked out for him and took care of him, he never took the time to really connect with them and just wrote them all off. Things are looking up now, though, as he’s just brought home his first Victor last year, and is excited to have a mentoring partner. Prentice takes good care of his mentor, and they’re very close because they understand each other. Prentice has family and friends, but at the end of the day, he and Vale stick together. Vale is extremely protective of his Victor, and while they’re mentoring he forbids anyone, especially the Capitolites, from so much as touching Prentice. He just wants Prentice to be safe and happy, and keep that support system and stay healthy. He’s also learned some good habits from Prentice, including drawing on his arms with markers as opposed to self-harm and rubbing ice on them as another alternative. Vale usually believes Prentice when he says he’s fine, though, even if he’s not, half because he’s in denial and half because he knows Prentice doesn’t want his pity.

Strategy for mentoring: Always overdoes it. Invests himself emotionally and often fails to take care of himself while the Games are happening, even before. He usually becomes attached to his tributes as he gets to know them, and takes their losses even harder. Really optimistic that District 9 could have two Victors in a row though.

Opinion on being a Victor/ the Capitol: Hates mentoring and gets extremely anxious around big crowds, so he hates going to the Capitol and he hates the Games.

Opinion of escort: Was friends with his escort, but is probably salty when the escort changes and isn’t a big fan of change in that way.

How would they deal with the twist?: Very cautiously. He would do his very best to know what to do, but sometimes he’d just freeze up and not know what to say and instead just offer his best advice.

Philosophy/Winning Advice: “Do everything you can to make it home. I’ll do my best to be behind you the whole way.”

 District 10

Arthur Warrick, Victor of the 112th Games. Won at 16. Currently 29.
-Mentoring: Attila-

Appearance: Arthur is a short, stocky man with light tan skin, brown hair, and the sweetest brown eyes you’ve ever saw.

Personality: Arthur is just a plain old sweetheart, plain and simple. He is very loving and kind, and extremely patient. Arthur is a really good baker that is very affectionate and tries to always be optimistic for himself, his husband, his daughter, and his tributes. Arthur is opposed to training in District 10 because the Careers in his Games were absolutely awful and he would rather lose tributes the rest of his life than be a mentor in a Career District. He stays firm on this. He is still haunted by his Games, though he only killed three people, he still remembers everything about how they died at the point of his sword, and will never stop feeling guilty about them. He has nightmares, but Caspar’s gotten good at calming him down. He was nervous about adopting a kid, but decided that he couldn’t let fear of the Games hold him back any longer, and soon Lethia joined the family. She is extremely stubborn Arthur is very good with kids and very loving, as well as very helpful. He spends time in the Capitol helping to teach baking classes, and sometimes Caspar and Lethia come to the Capitol with them for dates and, even more fun, double dates.  Arthur gets along well with the Capitol people, just because he’s so patient and sweet and tolerant.

Strategy for mentoring: He just wants to comfort his tribute and help them to shine. He really tries to be the best mentor he can be, but practically begs his tribute not to talk to the Careers, which could cause problems.

Opinion on being a Victor/ the Capitol: He’s traumatized by his Games and hates thinking about them, especially the people he killed. However, he is very forgiving, and likes President Blossius, and trusts that he’ll keep his word not to hurt families, so he’s really obedient and really open to getting to know Capitolites and be close with them.

Opinion of escort: Would be quite close with them and get to know them well, even spending time with them in the Capitol.

How would they deal with the twist?: He’d just be heartbroken about it. He knows how confusing love can be and would just try to be there for both 10 tributes and support them as the going gets rough. However, he knows that there really just isn’t a cure for a broken heart.

Philosophy/Winning Advice: “Play the game with grace and honor. Just remember to keep your eyes on the horizon, keep your chin up, and keep going.”

Roxanne Tilki, Victor of the 92nd Games. Won at 13. Currently 46.
-Mentoring: Miya-

Appearance: Roxanne has dark skin, black hair often kept in cornrows, and brown eyes. She’s tall and extremely skinny, just because she doesn’t eat very regularly or healthily.

Personality: Roxanne is the youngest Victor up to date, and there will never be a day she doesn’t think about what she’s done. Roxanne was not a small 13-year-old, she was quite tall for her age and built strong. She hid out through her Games and finished the final battle by blindsiding the 7 boy. She regrets the surprise attack in cold blood, especially because the boy was on the young side at 15, but knew that if she had confronted him, she would have died. She always thinks about the tributes in her Games and regrets what happened to them. She lost contact with some of her family after she won, just because they couldn’t see her as anything but a murderer, but her mother stayed by her and so did her brother. Roxanne hates the Games and openly despises the Capitol, or their escort, at least. Even though she’s the youngest Victor, she was never really wildly popular because of that fact, and because not even Joltee would put a 13-year-old up for prostitution, she didn’t have to do too much in the Capitol. Because of that she’s probably the most fiery and anti-Capitol of the Victors, besides probably Skeeter. Roxanne is bitter but does what she has to, and believes that District 10 should be training tributes just in case they’re reaped, not caring how this could lead to them being integrated with the Career alliance.

Strategy for mentoring: Encourages her tributes to try and talk to the Careers, see if they can’t get in there, and never ever loses faith in her tributes, no matter how young, how scared, or how impoverished/hopeless they seem. She should know, she won as a shy little 13-year-old, anything is possible in the Games.

Opinion on being a Victor/ the Capitol: Hates being a Victor and often feels like she shouldn’t be alive at all. She feels like she’s not doing enough to make up for the lives lost, and feels guilty for attacking in cold blood. She hates the Capitol and does everything to try and avoid going there.

Opinion of escort: Tries her very best not to associate with them, doesn’t want anyone’s pity.

How would they deal with the twist?: Does use the pamphlets Michael made, and tries to understand them (actually ends up learning that sexual and romantic orientations can be different, which she didn’t know before), so that she can help her tribute.

Philosophy/Winning Advice: “Think before you act. Fight honorably. Tackle everything you do with courage. Be smart, be aware, and alert. Win.”

DISTRICT 11

Skeeter Hofstadter, Victor of the 79th Games. Won at 17. Currently 63.
-Mentoring: Ollie-

Appearance: Skeeter is a tall, skinny man with dark skin, graying hair, and blue eyes that were once electric but are now just very hollow.

Personality: Skeeter is not really with it anymore, as he’s usually relying on alcohol to get him through each day. He hates the fact that he relies on alcohol to go on, but by now figures that it’s too late to stop anyways. He was once extremely lively and carefree, as a child in District 11. Back then, his father may have been pretty mean to Skeeter about his love of music and his sensitivity, but Skeeter had a strong support system to rely on back in those days. Everything started to go sour when he lost his best friend Rue in the 74th Hunger Games when they were 12. He loved her so much, and wanted to grow old with her, so losing her so suddenly was a total shock and he was completely blindsided. He stopped singing after that, it just brought back too many memories of her. From there, he had a couple of other friends, but they all eventually drifted apart. He was bullied by his cousin and his father, and he was struggling with his sexuality all at once. Suddenly, he was reaped for the 79th Games. Skeeter was pretty suicidal at the time, but put it all aside for the 12-year-old girl from District 10, who he decided to ally with in hopes that he could carry her to the final 2 or 3 and get her home, just because she reminded him of Rue and he didn’t want her family and friends to struggle like he did. They ended up in the final 4 before she was killed, after which the girl from 3 that killed her also killed the third place tribute, the boy from 5. Then, it was her and Skeeter, and, totally blinded by his desire to avenge his ally, killed her and ended up the Victor. The Capitol destroyed him, and Snow made sure to hurt Skeeter so deeply that he would never speak Rue’s name again, selling him like an object and threatening his only family member left, his mother. Skeeter did what they said, and after losing his mentoring partner Chaff, kept going until he brought Chervil home. He still cares about bringing tributes home, but not enough to ditch his pessimism or his drinking because he knows how the Games destroy you.

Strategy for mentoring: Does what he can when he’s half coherent, spends the rest of the time sleeping or drinking.

Opinion on being a Victor/ the Capitol: Hates both. Wishes he’d just died in the Games and feels like a failure because he couldn’t even save his ally like he wanted so it was pointless. He hates the Capitol and doesn’t trust them for a second, and will always be afraid of them. Also, hates Careers, especially Cato, the Victor of Rue’s Games.

Opinion of escort: Openly hostile towards them and will lash out if they just don’t leave him alone.

How would they deal with the twist?: Would really try to be there for his tributes but that means facing his own broken heart which is hard for him.

Philosophy/Winning Advice: “You can’t control if you live or die. All you can do is try to stack the odds in your favor.”

Chervil Van Laren, Victor of the 109th Games. Won at 15. Currently 31.
-Mentoring: Daria-

Appearance: Chervil is a tall, strong-built man from a lot of hard work before his Games and a lot of healthy eating afterwards. He has dark skin, close-cropped black hair, and dark brown eyes.

Personality: Chervil is a pretty sheltered guy, and he admits that usually. However, he’s also slightly stubborn and tries to argue everything, which just gets exhausting after a while. He is pretty afraid of the unknown, especially because his Arena was a dark cave and during his Games he got attacked from behind by a 14-year-old, during which he would have died if he hadn’t learned about hand-to-hand in training and didn’t know how to get her off of him. Chervil hates the dark and uses a lot of night lights, and also really likes animals, and back home has four cats, two turtles, and a lizard that he leaves under the care of a couple of his cousins, Lauro and Jude. However, Chervil does like to bring one of his turtles to the Capitol because it calms him and he likes to make his tributes smile. Honestly, Chervil is actually a pretty kind guy, he just needs to be educated a lot. He needs someone patient, that’s for sure. Anyways, Chervil is very devoted to mentoring and really wants to bring a tribute home, though sometimes he’s guilty of focusing too much on a tribute that is older/stronger/has more of a chance than the other, who he just kind of throws at Skeeter. However, he is pretty prejudiced, not only against LGBT+ but also just against Capitolites and Careers. He isn’t openly misogynistic but he does sometimes say problematic things that he doesn’t even realize are problematic until someone is just like “wtf that’s sexist??” Chervil just hasn’t had much reason to change, as he’s never met anyone LGBT+ and hasn’t really had any close girl friends or relatives, so he just doesn’t get it. He tries to be a good person and still does service hours in the Capitol, also helping out families in need back home. He also takes wonderful care of Skeeter, cooking him food, checking on him, and making sure that he’s doing alright. The Victors always have dinner together because neither of them really  have anyone left to be with, and sometimes Chervil brings a cat for Skeeter to pet because Chervil knows it makes him happy. Chervil’s still growing and changing, and has the potential to do amazing things, he just has to be educated. But yeah, he’s got his head up his ass a little bit.

Strategy for mentoring: Focus on the tribute with the best chance, even if his title is technically for the other, he tries to care for both. If they both have good chances, he would take really good care of both of them. He really likes watching the tributes try food for the first time, but has honestly never tried honey before because he had always hoped that the first time he tried it would be on his wedding day. He’s still holding out for that. Anyways, answer any questions from both tributes, though more in detail for his tribute(s) of choice. Rooting for his tributes the whole way.

Opinion on being a Victor/ the Capitol: He really loved to be a beacon of hope for people when he first won, but now the survivor’s guilt caught up with him and the honeymoon phase is over and he’s very subdued. He’s usually just anxious and guilty nowadays, though he’s glad to know Skeeter, even if he doesn’t agree with some of Skeeter’s life choices (or respect his sexuality). Usually tries to avoid the Capitol if possible, but is usually pretty kind when he’s there, though sometimes he tends to get kind of grumpy.

Opinion of escort: Tries to be polite to them but they’re probably the only Capitolite he really lets his grumpy side out around.

How would they deal with the twist?: It really puts him off. He usually doesn’t like talking about this stuff and would probably just shove them at Skeeter if they were asking him things. He would have to decide if he wanted to try and back his tributes here and learn or if he would just give up for the year.

Philosophy/Winning Advice: “Keep your head in the Game and do what you’ve been training for. I’ll cover for you as much as I can.”

DISTRICT 12

Allegra Pakulski, Victor of the 118th Games. Won at 16. Currently 23.
-Mentoring: Jacques-

Appearance: Allegra is a tall, skinny, frail woman that was from the Seam. She’s dyed her hair a coppery red color but still has her naturally gray eyes and light olive skin. Allegra is an exceptionally pretty woman, maybe even naturally prettier than Nona (don’t tell her I said that Nona will hunt me down), but she doesn’t look it because she’s so hollow and pale and unhealthily skinny. She is often seen with some kind of injuries on her.

Personality: Allegra is extremely withdrawn and shy. She hates loud noises because they bring her back to her Games. Allegra is a very broken woman that suffers from some severe PTSD because of everything that happened in her Games. She’s very sensitive and the littlest things set her off, things that remind her of the other tributes: whether it be a mannerism, a squeak, or just a cowlick: make her envision them dying all over again. Allegra is extremely intelligent and has a really clear and quick memory. She’s certainly smart enough to go to University in 3, hell, this girl is actually smart enough to have earned a full scholarship on the entrance exam out of school, if the Games didn’t happen. The Games turned her into nothing. She was alright through most of the action because she was pretty passive, but after her ally was killed, she started to shut down. Her final straw was after she won by killing the boy from 11, who was 15, and she curled up in a ball and started sobbing. Now, small things cause her to have big breakdowns, and she just can’t help it. There’s only one man she knows so far that can take her out of those breakdowns, her fiance Hoke. Hoke, however, is not a nice man. He was only really interested in Allegra because she was pretty and rich, and she was quick to give her heart away to anyone that said they would love her just because she needed someone. Hoke, however, is just terrible, and he often physically abuses Allegra. He always apologizes and puts on a big show of it, and she always forgives him, but it’s just a cycle that is never going to end. He is a tall, strong man from the Seam, and even if she knows it’s abuse and wanted to get away, she is bound to him because nobody else, not even Braelyn, can help her when she breaks down. She hates the thought of leaving him and prefers to convince herself that he really loves her instead, even if deep down she knows that he doesn’t.

Strategy for mentoring: Allegra really tries to help her tributes, knowing that there will come a day that Braelyn won’t be around anymore and that Allegra can’t mentor by herself. She really wants to bring District 12 home a Victor that will be there to continue getting tributes out of the Arena alive even if Braelyn is gone and Allegra is useless. However, she is just so tormented by the memories of her Games that such things as being in Training Center paralyze her. She really tries, and if her tribute shows promise she’d try even harder for them, but there are just some things that she can’t do.

Opinion on being a Victor/ the Capitol: Allegra could have been extremely happy and successful, but the Games ruined everything. She absolutely hates them, and the Capitol, and is terrified of both. Blossius is actually forced to give her a lower quota of Capitol time just because her breakdowns happen so often in the Capitol and are so bad. Her quota time is going with Hoke, walking around some of the shops for a while, and having a hair appointment once a month or so. She hates the Games and the Capitol and is horrified of them both.

Opinion of escort: Mostly just avoids them and sticks close to Brae and her tribute at all times.

How would they deal with the twist?: Doesn’t really know what to do and hates the thought of loving someone you have to kill. She’s so bad at love, and has never seen real love thanks to Hoke, so she just kind of tries to sidestep that part of it.

Philosophy/Winning Advice: “Just… Please try your best. Please.”

Braelyn Colonomos, Victor of the 90th Games. Won at 15. Currently 50.
-Mentoring: Ashlyn-

Appearance: Braelyn was once a blonde merchant, with now gray hair and blue eyes. She looks slightly older than she is because of the stress of mentoring and being a Victor in general.

Personality: Braelyn is very motherly, which is good because she’s District 12’s oldest living Victor and has been mentoring alone for a pretty long time. She is the only of the living Victors that won the Games without a living mentor to speak of. She is extremely loyal to the people she has left, though those people are few and far between. She has some fight in her, more than you’d expect of a 50-year-old District 12 Victor without real family left, but knows when to stand down for not only her safety but for the safety of her loved ones. She’s pretty neutral on the Capitol at this point, and has no hopes that the Games would end any time soon. She is obedient to the Capitol and plays their Games, knowing the cold ruthless nature of Joltee, who killed her younger brother the first time Brae stepped out of line. She doesn’t trust Blossius but is hoping that he’s true to his word. She spends her time in the Capitol going for walks and sitting in their nice little cafes. She is pretty solitary, sometimes by choice and sometimes just because she’s not very good at talking to people. She does like people, even if she is an introvert, and likes to know stories. She is very good at knitting and does it a lot to calm her nerves or when she can’t sleep.

Strategy for mentoring: As a mentor, she is very businesslike and though she tries to be curt, she ends up getting attached to her tributes anyways just by talking to them and learning their stories and their struggles. She is very big on angles, and tries to help her tributes pick the right one and stick with it from chariots to interviews all through the Games.

Opinion on being a Victor/ the Capitol: Sees the Games as an unmovable force, as horrible as they are, and is untrusting and wary of the Capitol because of the pain Joltee put her through.

Opinion of escort: Tries to be civil, but isn’t looking to be friends at all.

How would they deal with the twist?: Be a listening ear and maybe sit up with them and eat ice cream and let them be grumpy and sad, but other than that understands that there’s nothing you can do to help them and would just offer her help if possible.

Philosophy/Winning Advice: “Victory comes when you least expect it to. Keep your eyes out for that glint of gold, and lunge at it.”
